How this calculator works
We use PVGIS Scotland Central Belt averages adjusted by your postcode area: EH/G/FK postcodes around 880-905 kWh per kWp installed annually; KY (Fife) around 880 kWh/kWp; ML (Lanarkshire) around 880-885 kWh/kWp.
Savings assume 50% self-consumption at 28p/kWh and the remainder exported at 15p/kWh (Octopus Flux blended average). Battery uplifts self-consumption to 70-75% with proportionally higher savings.
Install cost is estimated as £1,400/kWp solar + £700/kWh battery (typical 2026 fitted prices in our service area).
