From design to commissioning
Following Part 1's planning and design, Phase 2 is the physical install — scaffolding, structural prep, panel rollout, electrical work, DNO commissioning.
Hospitality install challenges
A working hotel has constraints a vacant industrial site doesn't:
- Guest experience: quiet hours, visual impact during install, dust control
- Operational continuity: no power-down windows during peak guest hours
- Roof access: scaffolding routing avoiding key venue entrances
- Health & safety: RAMS need extra layers when public access is nearby
We've delivered hotel installs across Scotland with zero disruption to guest stays — it's possible, it just needs careful planning.
Specific to Gailes
The leisure complex roof gave us excellent south-east aspect, accessible scaffolding routing via the maintenance compound (away from public areas), and the existing three-phase made commissioning straightforward.
What gets installed
Standard commercial install sequence:
1. Scaffolding + edge protection
2. Roof structural verification
3. Mounting rail installation
4. Panel rollout (typical 100-150 panels for a Gailes-scale install)
5. DC string + isolator
6. Inverter mounting + commissioning
7. AC tie-in to main distribution board
8. SP Energy Networks G99 commissioning sign-off
9. MCS certification
