Listed-building solar in Edinburgh New Town
Heritage-sensitive 4kWp in-roof install with conservation officer pre-app. Slate-friendly hooks throughout.
The project
Edinburgh New Town is one of the toughest conservation areas in Scotland — Category B listed building, north-facing front, narrow south-facing rear. We ran pre-app discussions with City of Edinburgh Council Planning before quoting; in-roof installation on the rear (not visible from any public road) was approved.
Delivery used a Schletter slate-roof system with stainless steel hooks rated for the original Scottish slate. Two-storey scaffolding from the inner courtyard. EcoFlow inverter discreetly mounted in the basement utility area.
The install demonstrated that even Category B listed properties can host solar with the right approach.
