SP Distribution (Subset of SP Energy Networks) — connection process

SP Distribution is the formal sub-licence area within SP Energy Networks covering Central and South Scotland. For practical purposes, residential and small commercial customers can treat this as SP Energy Networks — the same portal, same forms, same engineering team.

G98 vs G99 — which applies?

• G98 (notification only): Single inverter ≤ 16A per phase (~3.68kW single-phase). Notify within 28 days of commissioning — no pre-approval needed.
• G99 (pre-approval): Anything larger. Connection offer issued first, then install, then commissioning. Same as SP Energy Networks — 6-12 weeks typical.

Typical SP Distribution timeline

1. Submit G99 application with single-line diagram + capacity request
2. SP Distribution accepts application + acknowledges
3. Connection offer issued (same as sp energy networks — 6-12 weeks typical.)
4. Accept offer + pay any reinforcement contribution if applicable
5. Schedule install + commissioning
6. Send commissioning certificate + MCS cert to SP Distribution

SP Distribution specifics

• No practical difference from SP Energy Networks for most customers.
• Licence boundary is geographical (Central + South Scotland).
• For meter-point related queries, MPAS reference is "SP Distribution".
