What a SigenStor costs in Scotland
There is no single list price, because the SigenStor is configured per house. Three things move the number: the inverter (3–12 kW single-phase, 5–30 kW three-phase), how many battery modules you fit — they are 6.02 kWh or 9.04 kWh and a controller takes one to six of them — and whether the integrated 25 kW EV DC charging module goes in.
As a guide, battery modules start at about £2,500 each ex-install and the EV DC module from about £3,500, with a full system typically landing between roughly £8,000 and £35,000 fitted. Domestic installations are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027 under HMRC VAT Notice 708/6, after which the rate is due to revert to 5%. What pushes a quote within that range is rarely the battery: it is whether the supply is three-phase, whether we are retrofitting to an existing array or replacing the inverter, the cable run from the tower to the consumer unit, whether you want whole-home or essential-circuit backup, and access for the PV side if panels are going up at the same time.
How to check a SigEnergy installer is genuinely certified
Anyone can put a manufacturer's logo on a quote. These are the four checks we would run if we were the ones buying — including on us.
- The manufacturer's own installer map. Sigenergy publishes a list of certified installers at sigenergy.com. Check the company you are speaking to appears on it.
- The MCS register. Smart Export Guarantee payments need an MCS-certified installation, so check the installer's MCS number on the MCS register rather than taking the badge at face value — and check it covers the technology you are buying, because certification is granted per technology.
- Who holds the workmanship warranty. The manufacturer warrants the product; the installer warrants the work. Ask for the second one in writing, with a length in years and a named company behind it.
- The supply route. Ask where the equipment comes from. Ecoaim is supplied direct by SigEnergy's UK Platinum Distributor (UK), which is what keeps product, firmware and warranty support inside the official chain.
Grid, metering and compliance for a Scottish install
Two network operators cover Scotland: SP Energy Networks runs the distribution network across central and southern Scotland — the whole Central Belt — and SSEN covers the north. An installation whose inverters export no more than 16 A per phase (3.68 kW on a single-phase supply) can connect on a G98 notification. Most SigenStor configurations are larger, so they need a G99 application approved before connection, and the battery counts inside the same application as the solar rather than a separate one. We prepare and submit it as part of the install.
For Smart Export Guarantee payments you also need MCS certification and a smart meter that records export half-hourly. If your property is listed, in a conservation area or inside a World Heritage Site, the panel side may need consent even though the battery does not — we check that before design rather than after.
