ASHP install in Linlithgow conservation area
Conservation-area cottage — 12kW Mitsubishi Ecodan replacing oil. £14,500 covered by HES grant + loan.
The project
Traditional sandstone cottage in central Linlithgow — listed building consent NOT required as the ASHP outdoor unit was rear-garden, screened by an existing hedge. MCS 020 noise calculation passed with comfortable margin.
Existing oil boiler removed; 12kW Mitsubishi Ecodan installed with new 300L cylinder. Five radiators upgraded for low flow temperature (45°C).
Full HES grant (£7,500) + interest-free loan (£7,500) applied at quote stage. Net out-of-pocket: £-500 (i.e. customer effectively profited £500 vs original quote due to a contingency surplus).
